BON MALTEN

Bio:

Bon Malten, born and raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico, is a queer feminist artist currently working in Portland, Oregon. She investigates process, storytelling, and the divine feminine through an interdisciplinary studio practice which integrates metalsmithing, ceramics, mold-making, organic materials, and printed works. She is interested in reflecting on the experiences of being in relationship, the role of queer femininity and queer joy as it becomes visible outside of compulsory heteronormativity, and the long journey towards self acceptance. She graduated from Oregon College of Art and Craft with a BFA in Cross Media in 2019. She is also a long-time studio assistant to metalsmith and installation artist Christine Clark as well as mixed media artist Christine Bourdette. Currently she is focused on printmaking, working with both traditional techniques of etching and mono printing as well as experimenting with laser etching on acrylic plates.
